Let It Fly Vocabulary

Aerodynamic

Designed with rounded edges so as to reduce wind drag and thereby increase fuel efficiency.

Drag

The retarding force exerted on a moving body by a fluid medium such as air or water.

Gravity

The natural force of attraction exerted by a celestial body, such as Earth, upon objects at or near its surface, tending to draw them toward the center of the body.

Lift

The component of the total aerodynamic force acting on an airfoil or on an entire aircraft or winged missile perpendicular to the relative wind and normally exerted in an upward direction, opposing the pull of gravity

Thrust

A property of matter equal to the measure of an object's resistance to changes in either the speed or direction of its motion. The mass of an object is not dependent on gravity and therefore is different from but proportional to its weight.
